Dinghy sailing
Six Vanguard Club 420s.
Qualified club members have access to six two-person Vanguard Club 420 dinghies. These responsive boats support small-boat instruction, skill building, youth sailing, and racing on Yaquina Bay.
Before using a Club 420 independently, members must complete appropriate sailing instruction, receive a checkout, and submit the club’s Boat Use Waiver. Contact the Fleet Chair to discuss experience, training, and availability.

Capri Club rules
Every user accepts the club’s “you break it, you fix it” policy. Damage or operating problems must be reported promptly to the Fleet Chair.
- The user must have an Oregon Boater’s Card.
- The boat may be sailed on Yaquina Bay from upriver to nearshore. It may not be sailed offshore unless participating in a club-sanctioned race or event.
- The boat must be returned one-half hour before sunset, or one-half hour after the end of a Wednesday race.
- Users may not use the portable head unless they empty and clean it.
- Maximum capacity is six people, each wearing a personal flotation device.
- Keep the fuel tank at least half full. Use only fuel provided in the marina locker.
- The boat may not be taken from the water or moved to another location.
- Return the boat to slip M176 on D dock.
- In a case of financial hardship, volunteer labor may be offered in exchange by arrangement with the club.
Powerboat
Boston Whaler.
The club owns a Boston Whaler. It is not rentable for personal use, but is a support craft for regattas and classes. We can always use volunteers to help drive the Whaler! Contact our fleet chair about getting checked-out.
To operate any of the YBYC powerboats, particularly when signing up for Chase Boat duties, the Safety/Chase Powerboat Use Skills Evaluation and Agreement must be signed off by an instructor.
