The story, people, and traditions behind Yaquina Bay Yacht Club.
Since 1947
A shared love of sailing and being on the water.
The Yaquina Bay Yacht Club was founded in 1947 with the purpose of promoting aquatic sports of all kinds, particularly yachting, and preserving the traditions of navigation and seamanship.
The original clubhouse was located near Riverbend. After many years of temporary meeting venues, members constructed the current harbor-view clubhouse in 2004 using all volunteer labor.
A 20-by-40-foot floating structure was later added through a partnership with the Oregon Boating Foundation for the Youth Sailing Program. Today, members represent all ages and walks of life, sharing camaraderie and a love of sailing and being on the water.
